Ball State University's annual Practical Criticism Midwest conference (PCM) aims to provide graduate students with a forum to share their work in the field of English. It was created by graduate students in English, for graduate students in English, with a focus on nurturing friendly intellectual interaction as well as introducing new graduate students to a stress-free professional conference setting. We pride ourselves on providing a relaxed and relaxing environment for new and emerging scholars alike, and on responding to the needs and desires of our graduate community quickly and effectively.

The premise for PCM is to provide a forum for Ball State graduate students to present critical and creative work in a warm, friendly, intellectually stimulating atmosphere. It also gives individuals in the department the opportunity to share ideas and get better acquainted, fostering the collegiality which we will soon all find as we prepare for our future lives as academics. In addition to first-time presenters, PCM welcomes the work of graduate students who have presented their work at professional conferences.

PCM 2012 will be held on Friday February 10th 2012 at the Virginia Ball Center. This event is free to all Ball State students and faculty. Registration is requested for many of the events. Please see our Registration page for further details.
